Humboldt Park Getting New Football Field, Fieldhouse Upgrades
Humboldt Park will undergo $13. 1 million in renovations, primarily financed through a local tax-increment financing district. The plan includes constructing a new $400,000 football field for the Humboldt Park Patriots, marking the first dedicated football field in the park's history. Ald. Jessie Fuentes emphasized that these improvements fulfill community demands for safer recreational spaces.
In addition to the football field, upgrades will be made to the fieldhouse, tennis courts, pool house, and standalone bathrooms. Over the past five years, the Park District has invested around $3 million in various other park improvement projects. Work on the football field has already commenced, with tennis court renovations and garden improvements slated to begin in the spring. The enhancements will provide local youth with better programming opportunities and address issues like water damage in existing facilities. Accessibility improvements will also enhance the overall park experience.
