The nonprofit newsroom, founded in 2018 by former DNAinfo Chicago journalists, has published over 29,000 stories, demonstrating its dedication to covering local issues. In 2021, Block Club also earned recognition as the Best Online-only News publication. The newsroom has investigated significant topics, including the conditions at a Northwest Side hospital and the city's handling of domestic violence cases. With more than 40 full-time journalists, Block Club publishes over a dozen stories daily across multiple platforms, including a podcast and newsletters.
