The CTA Holiday Train And Bus Return Next Week
The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) will reintroduce its holiday train on November 28, the day after Thanksgiving, marking its 34th year of operation. This festive train will feature six decorated passenger cars and an open flatcar carrying Santa and his sleigh. The holiday bus, debuting on November 25, showcases a unique Christkindlmarket theme, complete with a reindeer flying over Downtown and a gingerbread house interior. Select train runs will provide limited photo opportunities with Santa, enhancing the holiday experience for riders. Both services will continue until late December, with the train concluding its runs on December 22 and the bus on December 20.
The CTA also maintains its commitment to charity, delivering 400 food baskets to local community organizations this season. The holiday train, sponsored by Allstate, began its journey in 1992, evolving from a simple food delivery initiative to a beloved Chicago tradition. As the train arrives at each station, Santa waves to riders, marking the start of the festive season in the city.
