City Approves 12 Million In TIF Funding To Overhaul Englewood's Ogden Park Fieldhouse

Chicago, ILLocal News

The Chicago City Council approved $12 million in tax-increment financing to reconstruct Ogden Park’s fieldhouse, a project that Ald. David Moore has championed since 2015. The new two-story facility will include club rooms, basketball courts, and a fitness center, addressing the needs of local teens and older residents. The total project cost is estimated at $25 million, funded through a combination of TIF, Park District contributions, and state grants. The current fieldhouse, built in 1904, has been criticized for its deterioration and lack of accessibility.

Moore emphasizes that this facility will provide essential community services, like summer camps and winter sports. The Park District will award the design contract this month, and construction is expected to commence in late 2026. The revamped fieldhouse is projected to open in 2028. Plans for future enhancements, such as enclosing the outdoor pool, are also in consideration.
