A shooting at a Jewel-Osco on Chicago's South Side left three individuals injured, including a security guard in serious condition. The incident unfolded around 10:52 a. m. when two suspects entered the supermarket and stole merchandise. The 46-year-old security guard intervened, prompting one suspect to open fire, hitting him and two others.

A 29-year-old woman was hospitalized in stable condition after being shot in the foot, while a 67-year-old woman was grazed and refused treatment. Additional injuries occurred as shoppers attempted to escape the scene, with one person sustaining an unrelated injury. Witnesses recounted the chaos, highlighting the presence of blood on the ground and the immediate panic among shoppers. Chicago police have not made any arrests or provided suspect descriptions as the investigation continues. Such violent incidents raise concerns about safety in public spaces and the challenges facing law enforcement in urban areas.
