Millennium Park's Christmas Tree Is A 68-Foot Spruce

Chicago, ILLocal News

Chicago's Millennium Park will feature a 68-foot Norway spruce as its Christmas tree, donated by the Mason family from Glenview. City officials confirmed the transplant, with the tree cut down and transported for the lighting ceremony set for November 21. It will be adorned with hundreds of lights and remain on display until early January. In a separate local issue, a proposed residential development at 1201 W. Kinzie St.

is generating pushback from neighbors concerned about parking shortages. Residents criticized the plan for only 14 parking spaces, claiming it would worsen congestion in an already crowded area. Developer LG Development is seeking to rezone the site from industrial to residential, allowing for 66 apartments. Neighbors have requested additional parking options, but the developer cited high costs for potential underground solutions. The community group Neighbors of River West plans to meet again on December 1 to discuss the project further.
