Wrigleyville Pot Shop, Apartments In Andersonville And East Garfield Park OK'd By City Committee

Chicago, ILLocal News

On Monday, the City Council’s zoning committee approved plans for a cannabis dispensary and two apartment developments. Entourage Dispensary will be located at 3650 N. Clark St. , directly across from Wrigley Field, making it the closest dispensary to the famous ballpark. The committee also greenlit a 26-unit apartment complex in Andersonville and a 51-unit all-affordable housing project in East Garfield Park.

Ald. Bennett Lawson acknowledged mixed feelings in the neighborhood about the dispensary but supported it, referencing the positive experiences with existing dispensaries. Meanwhile, the Hazel Johnson cumulative impacts ordinance, which aims to boost environmental protections for communities near polluting industries, faced concerns from business groups regarding its economic impact. No vote was taken on the ordinance, but it may return to the council later this year. The dispensary plans to employ armed guards and schedule deliveries around Cubs games to ensure safety.

The full City Council is set to vote on all projects at its next meeting on Nov. 14.
