35th Ward Residents Can Vote On How To Spend 1 Million In Their Neighborhoods
Voting for participatory budgeting in Chicago's 35th Ward is open until November 30, allowing residents to influence the allocation of over $1 million for public infrastructure projects. Participants can vote for three out of five proposed project categories, which include street resurfacing, sidewalk repair, public art, bike lane infrastructure, and pedestrian safety improvements. Each winning category will receive at least $350,000 to fund projects, with a total of 180 ideas submitted for consideration this summer. Residents aged 14 and older, regardless of immigration or voting status, are eligible to vote, ensuring broad community engagement. This participatory budgeting cycle is the 11th for the ward and the first led by Ald.
Anthony Quezada, who took office earlier this year. After voting concludes, a volunteer committee will evaluate the winning categories to select specific projects for the 2026 construction season. The 35th Ward encompasses parts of Irving Park, Logan Square, Hermosa, and Avondale. Residents can submit their votes through the provided link until the end of the month.
