Chicago, ILLocal News

Federal immigration agents detained at least three individuals, including two U. S. citizens, in Albany Park on Friday morning, sparking outrage among community members. Eyewitnesses reported that agents handcuffed one man while several neighbors gathered to question the agents' actions. Assistant Homeland Security Secretary Tricia McLaughlin confirmed the arrest of five undocumented individuals from various countries but did not mention the U.

S. citizens involved. Local rapid response teams, which monitor immigration enforcement, were alerted to the situation and provided support to those affected. Alderman Rossanna Rodriguez-Sanchez witnessed one of the detentions and emphasized the community's efforts to protect its members. Residents voiced their alarm over the aggressive tactics employed by agents, comparing their actions to an abduction.

Jordan, a local activist, stated that the neighborhood feels abandoned by local law enforcement and relies on community members to watch over each other. This incident highlights ongoing tensions surrounding immigration enforcement practices in the area.
