Near-Freezing Temps Return To Chicago As Frost Advisory Issued
Chicago faced its coldest morning temperatures since May, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a frost advisory for the area from 1-8 a. m. Friday. Overnight lows are expected to dip as low as 27 degrees, significantly cooler than Thursday's high of 52 degrees. This marked a dramatic shift from early October's near 90-degree highs.
Meteorologist David King explained that the current cold air stems from a larger low pressure system moving northeast toward Canada. While Friday promises slightly warmer weather and mostly sunny skies, an elevated frost risk remains in the evening. Saturday's forecast includes a high of 57 degrees and a low of 46 degrees, continuing into Sunday with highs near 59 degrees. The first three days of the workweek may bring a chance of showers, according to King. The frost advisory reflects a typical seasonal pattern, though it is arriving slightly later than usual for surrounding suburbs.
