Gold Coast Shooting Wounds 4 People

Chicago, ILLocal News

Four people were shot in the Gold Coast neighborhood of Chicago early Friday morning, prompting an ongoing police investigation. At around 3:48 a. m. , a gray Acura fired shots at the victims, who were standing on the sidewalk in the 1100 block of North Dearborn Street. The victims, aged between 22 and 60, sustained injuries ranging from a leg wound to a forearm injury but were reported to be in stable condition or have already been released from the hospital.

Alderman Brian Hopkins stated that the shooting appeared to be targeted, potentially involving individuals associated with the nearby Gold Coast Social bar. Surveillance footage reportedly captured large fights near the bar prior to the incident. Hopkins has requested police Superintendent Larry Snelling to consider a temporary closure of Gold Coast Social if it is found to pose a public safety threat. The lack of arrests highlights concerns about ongoing violence in the area. Local officials are under pressure to address safety issues related to nightlife establishments.
