In New Book, Chicago Blogger And Witch Shows You How Cheese Can Be Magic

Chicago, ILLocal News

Chicagoan Erika Kubick released her second book, “Cheese Magic,” on September 16, which delves into the connections between cheese, magic, and seasonal traditions. To celebrate, she will host a free event on October 18 at Sideshow Gallery, featuring local vendors and activities like tarot readings and book signings. Kubick's first book served as a reference for cheese basics, while “Cheese Magic” allows her to explore more esoteric themes, including the intersection of cheese and witchcraft. The book is organized into eight sections based on Pagan seasonal festivals, each containing various recipes and tips for spell-casting. Kubick believes that ritualizing food can provide both physical and spiritual nourishment, especially in today's fast-paced world.

One standout recipe includes raspberry, brie, and orange marmalade “love tarts,” which can serve as a love spell or simply a delightful treat. She aims to help readers feel more comfortable with diverse cheese options, bridging the gap between the public and the cheese industry. Kubick's work reflects her dedication to making cheese accessible while enriching the culinary experience with magic.
