Chicago Could Break Heat Records This Weekend As 80s, 90s Expected

Chicago, ILLocal News

Chicago is set to break temperature records this weekend as unseasonably warm weather brings highs in the 80s and 90s. The National Weather Service forecasts a high of 84 degrees on Friday, while AccuWeather predicts it could reach as high as 89 degrees. This surge in temperature is significantly warmer than the average high of 60s for early October. Meteorologist Dan Pydynowski indicated that Saturday's high could approach or match the 90-degree record from 1951, while Sunday may see temperatures around 88 degrees, potentially tying the record set in 1997. After the warm weekend, temperatures will cool down to 70 degrees on Tuesday and further drop to 64 degrees by Wednesday.

Pydynowski emphasized that the warm weather will continue through the weekend, providing a brief respite from typical fall conditions. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of the warmth before the seasonal cool-down begins. The unusual heat wave highlights the variability of autumn weather in the region.
