South Loop Lands Another Sushi Bar As M Lounge And Roots Handmade Pizza Close

Chicago, ILLocal News

Sakana Sushi has opened at 1307 S. Wabash Ave. , offering diners choices like a la carte nigiri and hibachi dishes. M Lounge, a popular bar in the South Loop for 20 years, is closing as it transitions to new ownership under Israel Idonije’s Pangea Restaurant Group. The Marshes, who previously owned the venue, have been significant figures in the local dining scene, also launching the Park Supper Club.

Roots Handmade Pizza will shut down its Printers Row location on Sunday after five years of operations, known for its creative pizzas and community support during the pandemic. The restaurant featured a retractable glass roof and 400 seats, making it a notable venue. Its West Town location is the only remaining Roots restaurant, following closures in Lincoln Square and Old Town. The shift in the South Loop dining landscape reflects changing ownership and consumer preferences in the area. Local patrons may seek new dining options as these closures occur.
