Latina Comedy Festival Celebrates Culture With 3 Days Of Laughs
The Latina Comedy Festival returns for its fourth year from October 2-4 at The Lincoln Lodge in Logan Square, featuring 50 performers in 20 shows, including three entirely in Spanish. Jessi Realz, associate producer, believes this addition will attract new audiences eager for comedy in their native language. Christina Gutierrez, a performer for the third consecutive year, appreciates the festival's supportive environment for sharing cultural nuances. The festival, launched in 2022 by Las Locas Comedy, arose from a need for spaces dedicated to Latina comedians. Rodriguez, a co-founder, recognized the vast talent of Latina comedians nationwide and sought to amplify their voices.
She prioritized diversity in this year's lineup, aiming to showcase the varied Latina experience. The festival's significance lies in its ability to challenge stereotypes and highlight the richness within Latina culture. Tickets are available online for about $24, with varying showtimes.
