Leather Bar Chicago Eagle Takes Over Baton Show Lounge, But Drag Shows Will Continue
HV Entertainment will revive the iconic Chicago Eagle as a new LGBTQ+ bar in the historic location of the Baton Show Lounge, which has operated since 1969. Richard Ramey announced that drag shows will persist at the new venue, with a dedicated space for performances featuring the same performers. This marks the end of the Baton Show Lounge's 56-year run as a standalone venue, an important chapter in Chicago's LGBTQ+ history. The original Chicago Eagle was among the first leather bars in the U. S.
and hosted the International Mr. Leather contest before closing 14 years ago. Ramey emphasized the critical need for safe spaces for the LGBTQ+ community, especially during challenging times. The new bar will also integrate elements of the Baton Show Lounge, allowing fans to continue enjoying its legacy. Chicago Eagle held a preview event recently, but an official opening date is yet to be determined.
