Max Candle Co. To Celebrate Grand Opening Of Roseland Market, Makerspace Saturday

Chicago, ILLocal News

Max Candle Co. celebrated its grand opening in Roseland, offering a storefront dedicated to supporting local entrepreneurs. Located at 11336 S. Michigan Ave. , the shop features its own products as well as items from nine other small businesses, including those selling hair products and jewelry.

The makerspace within the shop includes a membership program granting access to essential resources like screenprinting equipment and coworking space. The grand opening event is set for noon on Saturday, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony following at 12:30 p. m. CEO Markell Sylvain stated that the initiative aims to aid business owners lacking financial resources for retail space. The company began as a family venture during the COVID-19 pandemic, evolving from candlemaking classes to a full-fledged business.

Sylvain and his mother plan to develop a larger multipurpose retail space on a vacant lot they own in the area. This new storefront serves as a smaller-scale pilot for their future ambitions in supporting local entrepreneurship.
