Want A Batmobile Or Michael Jordans Bentley? Visit This NW Side Auto Auction This Weekend

Chicago, ILLocal News

Klairmont Kollections in Belmont Cragin will host a major auction this weekend, featuring over 275 collector vehicles and thousands of pieces of road art. Organized by Mecum Auctions, the event will occur on Saturday and Sunday, with a preview day for registered bidders on Friday. The collection, amassed by real estate magnate Larry Klairmont before his death in 2021, includes unique items such as a Batmobile and a 2006 Bentley Continental once owned by Michael Jordan. Klairmont's passion for cars blossomed later in life, reflecting his childhood struggles and his journey from poverty to success. Joyce Oberland, his partner, shared that Klairmont cherished the stories behind his collection, making it difficult for him to part with any vehicle.

The museum, previously home to around 600 cars, has become a local gem over the past decade. This auction signifies the closing of a beloved venue that attracted automotive enthusiasts from across the nation. The event not only showcases rare vehicles but also highlights the legacy of a passionate collector and his extraordinary journey.
