La Casa Playroom Brings Bilingual Story Time, Multicultural Play To Southwest Side Families
La Casa Playroom, located in Brighton Park, opened to provide multicultural and bilingual play opportunities for children aged 6 and younger. Founders Angie Maciel-Wright and Jeremy Wright recognized a lack of suitable play spaces for families after the birth of their second child. The facility offers open play sessions, educational materials, and cultural events, with the first event themed around Mexico for Hispanic Heritage Month. Amenities include dedicated workspaces for parents, free Wi-Fi, and a breastfeeding support station, ensuring comfort for families. Maciel-Wright emphasizes affordability, with services designed for working families in the neighborhood.
The playroom has expanded its offerings, including after-school care and summer camps. Maciel-Wright's background as a first-generation Mexican-American drives her mission to create an inclusive space that celebrates diversity. La Casa Playroom is open Monday to Friday and plans to host more cultural events in the future.
