Chicago Bears Double Down On Plan To Leave Soldier Field For Arlington Heights
The Chicago Bears confirmed plans to relocate from Soldier Field to Arlington Heights, with President Kevin Warren addressing season ticket holders about the decision. The team aims to build a new stadium on the former Arlington International Racecourse site, hoping to host a Super Bowl by 2031. Warren noted that over half of the season ticket holders live within 25 miles of the new location. The project promises to create 56,000 construction jobs and 9,000 permanent jobs, contributing an estimated $10 billion to the state's economy. Additionally, the Bears envision attracting major events such as the Super Bowl and college basketball's Final Four to the new stadium.
Local officials, including Ald. Lamont Robinson, expressed disappointment and continue efforts to keep the team in Chicago. The Bears previously explored other locations within the city but found none viable, leading to the decision to move. Warren also highlighted a commitment to collaborate with local leaders on tax and infrastructure plans that benefit the community.
