Latest Plans For Former Lincoln Yards Site Show Apartment Towers, Townhouses And Riverwalk

Chicago, ILLocal News

JDL Development has revealed plans for Foundry Park, which will feature over 2,800 housing units, a hotel, and significant commercial space on the northern section of the former Lincoln Yards site. Located primarily in Lincoln Park and extending into Bucktown, the project aims to revitalize a long-vacant area while focusing on lower-density residential development. Developer Jim Letchinger highlighted the need to address traffic patterns in the region during a recent neighborhood meeting. The initial phase will comprise four buildings, including a 38-story structure, and a large central park that will host year-round community events. Plans also include an underground parking facility with over 800 spots and an extension of the 606 Trail, allowing for safer travel between neighborhoods.

Letchinger stated that the project seeks to create connected green spaces and a vibrant commercial thoroughfare along Southport Avenue. The development represents a significant shift from the original Lincoln Yards plan, emphasizing housing over office space. If all necessary city approvals are granted, construction could begin as early as next year.
