Chicagoans Unite To Expand Search For Bam Bam, The Service Dog Stolen From A Blind Man

Chicago, ILLocal News

Chicagoans are uniting to find Bam Bam, a 14-year-old dachshund stolen from Angel Santiago, a legally blind man, in Logan Square. Since June, Santiago has sought help from neighbors and local rescues, resulting in a community effort to raise awareness through media coverage. A fundraiser quickly surpassed its goal, accumulating nearly $16,000 to support search efforts, including printing flyers. A canvassing event is planned for Saturday, encouraging volunteers to distribute flyers in various neighborhoods. The reward for Bam Bam's safe return is currently set at $5,000, funded by PETA, with organizers open to anonymous tips.

Santiago expresses gratitude for the outpouring of support and hopes to use leftover funds to assist other blind individuals in need. The group also filed a police report this week, which Santiago initially did not do. They aim to apply pressure on the situation, hoping that increased visibility will lead to Bam Bam's safe return.
