Five people sustained injuries in a mass shooting near a Bronzeville community center and senior apartments on Monday afternoon. At approximately 3:27 p. m. , officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 700 block of East 43rd Street. A woman in her 60s is in serious condition, while a 35-year-old man, a 39-year-old man, a 44-year-old man, and a 72-year-old woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Ald. Lamont Robinson condemned the shooting as a "senseless act of terrorism" and is collaborating with local law enforcement to enhance community safety. Activist Ja’Mal Green has pledged a $5,000 reward for any information leading to an arrest. Witnesses reported hearing extensive gunfire, with nearly 40 shell casings found at the scene. This incident follows a series of West Side shootings that occurred just days earlier, highlighting ongoing violence in the city.

Police are actively seeking community assistance to gather information on the suspects involved.
