Mello Buckzz Photographer Thankful That Im Alive After River North Mass Shooting
A mass shooting occurred on July 2 outside the Artis Lounge in River North, claiming four lives and injuring 14 others. Christian Loggins, a 25-year-old photographer, attended the album release party for rapper Mello Buckzz when the violence erupted. He heard gunshots shortly after exiting the venue and ducked down to protect himself and his friend, Kaii So. Both Loggins and So sustained gunshot wounds, prompting Loggins to seek assistance from others inside the lounge. Loggins described the scene as chaotic, filled with screams and panic as he struggled to stay conscious due to blood loss.
He was later transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he learned the extent of the tragedy. Medical staff informed him of the four deaths, emphasizing his survival as a miracle. Loggins called the shooting “demonic” and expressed his gratitude for being alive.
