Two women were groped in separate incidents at West Ridge Nature Park this week, prompting police to increase security in the area. The first incident occurred around 10:15 p. m. Monday, with a 53-year-old woman being struck by an unidentified man before he fled the scene. Just two days later, a 33-year-old woman reported being smacked on the buttocks around 9:40 a.

m. Wednesday. Police are actively investigating, and no one is in custody as of now. Alderman Andre Vasquez emphasized the importance of community vigilance, encouraging neighbors to call 911 if they feel threatened. The park, which spans 21 acres and is located near Rosehill Cemetery, has seen increased surveillance measures in response to these incidents.

Residents can also seek support through the Chicago Rape Crisis Hotline if needed. These incidents highlight ongoing concerns regarding safety in public spaces.
