East Garfield Park Performing Arts Center to Receive TIF Funding

The City of Chicago has announced a pivotal development in East Garfield Park, granting BandWith Chicago $5 million in Tax Increment Financing (TIF) to establish a new performing arts headquarters. This $12. 3 million project aims to transform a 21,460-square-foot building located at 134-56 S. California Ave. into a community-centered space for free performing arts programs.

The facility will include new rehearsal and performance areas, classrooms for music, dance, drumline, sound engineering, and choral instruction. This initiative reflects the City’s commitment to enhancing youth engagement in the arts and providing essential resources for local talent. The funding was unanimously approved by the City Council, signifying strong support for cultural development in the area. BandWith Chicago, known for its advocacy in youth performing arts and wellness, is poised to make a significant impact on the community. As construction progresses, the organization aims to foster an inclusive environment where young artists can thrive.
