Wicker Parks Milk Honey Cafe Seeking New Owner After Being Shut Down By City

Chicago, ILLocal News

Milk & Honey Cafe, a beloved brunch spot in Wicker Park, is seeking new ownership after a cease and desist order from city officials halted its operations. The order was issued on May 14 due to expired food and liquor licenses, which the Department of Business Affairs confirmed in a recent statement. Management announced their search for new operators via email and social media, citing the need for community involvement to maintain the cafe's role as a gathering space. Despite holding an active food establishment license as of July 23, unresolved issues with state liquor licensing have left the cafe closed for over two months. Founded in the early 2000s by Carol Watson and Heidi Feinerman, Milk & Honey became known for its brunch offerings and granola brand.

The cafe changed ownership in 2021, which led to employee turnover and dissatisfaction. Management expressed hope that someone from the community will step forward to take over the cafe's operations. Interested parties can reach out through the provided email address for inquiries.
