4 Little Village Buildings Vandalized With Swastikas, Pro-ICE Slogan In Cowardly Act, Immigrant Group Says

Chicago, ILLocal News

Four buildings in Little Village were vandalized early Saturday morning with swastikas and a pro-ICE slogan, sparking police investigations. Latino Progresando, a local organization serving the immigrant community, reported that its office was among those targeted, calling the swastika a "universal symbol of hate. " They linked the vandalism to recent actions by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, which have raised fears among community members. The group emphasized their commitment to their mission, stating, “Let’s be clear about one thing — Latinos Progresando will not back away from our values. ” La Frutería grocery store, another vandalized location, was marked with “ICE RULES,” leading to the removal of a pro-Palestinian mural from its wall.

Community members expressed concern that these acts aim to intimidate and divide the neighborhood. This incident follows similar vandalism of murals in Pilsen that depicted solidarity with immigrant communities. The ongoing tensions reflect a broader struggle against anti-immigration sentiment in the area.
