Chicago, ILLocal News

Lauren Covas will host a book signing for her new cookbook “Little Portugal” at Cadinho Bakery in McKinley Park from 4-7 p. m. on Thursday. Covas, known for her victories on Food Network's “Chopped” and “Supermarket Steakout,” aims to promote Portuguese cuisine through her recipes. Bakery owner Maria Alejandra Rivera expressed honor in collaborating with Covas, highlighting the importance of the Portuguese-American community in the area.

The limited-time menu includes dishes such as bacalhau com natas, the Little Portugal Chopwhich, and a cookie cake cup inspired by tiramisu, available until July 24 or while supplies last. Cadinho Bakery, which opened in July 2024, began as a home-based business focused on Portuguese sweets before expanding to savory items. Rivera's journey reflects a deep connection to her roots, having lived in Portugal for three years. The event underscores the bakery's role in promoting local culture and cuisine. Community engagement remains a priority as Cadinho Bakery celebrates its anniversary and continues to grow.
