Crust Fund Pizza Marks 5 Years With Special Hundo Pizza With Dry-Aged Ribeye And Caviar

Chicago, ILLocal News

John Carruthers' Crust Fund Pizza has raised nearly $100,000 for local charities over the past five years, celebrating this achievement with a luxury pizza called “The Hundo” priced at $3,376. 33. This exclusive pizza features dry-aged ribeye, caviar, and Italian beef, with proceeds directed to The Friendship Center, a local food pantry. Carruthers highlights the ongoing issue of food insecurity in his Ravenswood neighborhood, where demand for services remains high despite its affluent reputation. If the special pizza remains unsold, its price may drop, allowing more people to contribute to the charity.

Carruthers promotes his pizza offerings on Instagram, linking orders to donations made to local charities. He sees this initiative as a way to meet community members and emphasize the goodness of people willing to help. The project began in August 2020 and has become a monthly event for raising funds. Carruthers believes that even extravagant gestures, like putting caviar on a pizza, can significantly impact those in need.
