Chicago Public Library Rolls Out The Summer Reading Program For Adults Youve Been Dreaming Of

Chicago, ILLocal News

The Chicago Public Library now offers an expanded summer reading program for adults, reflecting a shift towards inclusivity in reading initiatives. Participants can earn a limited-edition baseball cap and enter raffles by completing six of ten activities, which include reading eco-lit and attending workshops on gardening and flower arranging. This initiative is part of the “Summer at CPL” event, which historically provided options for children during summer months. This year’s theme, “Growing Minds, Going Green,” invites adults to explore the natural world through curated booklists and sustainability programs. The library system announced that over 2,000 free events and activities will be available for children, teens, and adults until August 3.

The adult program encourages community engagement and promotes lifelong learning. The eco-lit reading list and natural sciences list are available at library branches, enhancing access to diverse reading materials. This inclusion of adult programs highlights a broader trend to foster a culture of reading among all age groups.
