New features include a fitness space, dance studio, and outdoor plaza, making the center more accessible and inviting. Ald. Angela Clay and other leaders emphasized the center's importance in providing safe spaces, with Clay stating, “Safe spaces save lives. ” Park District programs will commence this fall, allowing community members to engage in various activities once again.

The Garfield-Clarendon Model Railroad Club, a fixture at the center since 1963, will also return, promising weekly open houses for local residents. Originally built in 1916, the center has a rich history, transitioning from a bathhouse to a community hub.
