Aileen Bidwill operates two Chicago pole dance studios that promote inclusivity for LGBTQ+ and sex worker communities. Her studios, Pole Icons in Bucktown and The Brass Ring in Wicker Park, provide a welcoming environment for diverse body types and gender identities. Bidwill's journey began over 12 years ago, inspired by the joy and freedom of pole dancing, leading her to open her first studio in December 2019. With classes catering to all ages and abilities, the studios emphasize community and self-expression through pole dancing. Following the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, Bidwill expanded her business to include the acquisition of The Brass Ring, which she revamped for a new audience, seeing around 50 students daily.

Monthly events like "Pole Nights" celebrate the sex workers' movement, showcasing performers from across the city. Bidwill advocates for recognizing pole dancing as both a sport and an artistic expression, challenging societal taboos associated with the activity. Her work highlights the importance of respect and joy within the pole dancing community, making it a safe space for all.
