Winnemac Parks Popular 4th Of July Celebration Returns For The Holiday

Chicago, ILLocal News

The Fourth For All event will return to Winnemac Park on July 4, starting at 10 a. m. , featuring activities like disc golf, yoga, and a performance by fire dancers. Council President Jacob Schuster shared that last year’s inaugural event attracted over 2,500 attendees, far surpassing their expectations. This year, the council is working to expand the event by adding more food trucks and on-the-ground volunteers to improve logistics.

The total cost for this year's event is approximately $14,000, and the council is actively fundraising for additional sponsorships. The city-sanctioned event replaces the controversial unsanctioned fireworks that have been a point of contention in recent years. Ald. Andre Vasquez previously urged residents to avoid fireworks due to park maintenance concerns, leading to increased regulation. The council aims to create a positive community atmosphere without the use of pyrotechnics.

This initiative reflects a growing demand for safe, family-friendly celebrations in the community.
