The Violet Hour, Chicagos Most Influential Cocktail Bar, To Close Permanently
The Violet Hour, a prominent cocktail bar located in Wicker Park, Chicago, will permanently close after failing to resolve issues related to plumbing and building damage. Management confirmed the closure through a social media post, which followed an initial temporary shutdown. Established in 2007, the bar became a cornerstone of Chicago's craft cocktail culture, introducing iconic drinks like the Paper Plane and Juliet and Romeo. One Off Hospitality, which operates the bar, faced extensive repairs deemed too complex to address effectively. The management expressed regret over the closure but hinted at potential future endeavors for the Violet Hour brand.
"It's tough, and it's not a simple fix," said One Off partner Terry Alexander, highlighting the challenges of the necessary repairs. The bar's unique location, often adorned with public art, contributed to its status and appeal among cocktail enthusiasts. Patrons received heartfelt thanks from management, emphasizing the community's role in the bar's legacy.
