Another Stretch Of Lincoln Avenue Is Now Temporarily Closed To Traffic

Chicago, ILLocal News

Lincoln Avenue will close to vehicles starting Tuesday for six weeks as part of ongoing renovations in Lincoln Square. This closure will affect the section between Leland and Eastwood and may be extended due to weather conditions, according to Alderman Matt Martin's office. Leland Avenue will temporarily become a one-way street to ensure continued access for local traffic. Pedestrian access to businesses and the Brown Line will remain open during the construction. The current phase aims to enhance safety for pedestrians and cyclists while also renovating the train station.

Construction has faced delays due to logistical issues related to water connections, which were previously reported by Martin's chief of staff. The project is aligned with the 2019 Lincoln Square Master Plan, which sought improvements in infrastructure and aesthetics. This construction is expected to continue through the end of the year, as stated by the Chicago Transit Authority.
