Birrieria Zaragoza In Archer Heights Closed Temporarily After Fire

Chicago, ILLocal News

Birrieria Zaragoza, known for its birria, temporarily closed following a stove fire that resulted in damage to its building in Archer Heights. Firefighters arrived at approximately 2:45 p. m. and managed to extinguish the fire by 3 p. m.

Damage to the building was significant but not severe, according to Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford, who noted that the fire likely would not lead to further investigation. In an Instagram post, the restaurant thanked first responders and reassured patrons that no injuries were reported. Owner John Zaragoza stated the family was still evaluating the situation, while a sign on the restaurant's front door indicated it was closed temporarily. Birrieria Zaragoza has built a strong reputation over its 20 years in business, earning accolades from Michelin and the Food Network. The restaurant opened a second location in Uptown earlier this year, next to the famous Green Mill jazz club.

Community support remains strong as the restaurant prepares to rebuild.
