LGBTQ Community Grieves After Fatal Hit-And-Run Of Chicago Chorus Performer In Lakeview
The LGBTQ+ community is grieving the tragic loss of Brendan Siddall, a 26-year-old performer with the Chicago Gay Men’s Chorus, following a hit-and-run incident in Lakeview early Saturday morning. Siddall was walking across the northbound lanes of DuSable Lake Shore Drive around 3:30 a. m. when they were struck by a white 2019 Honda Accord, which fled the scene. Officers found Siddall unresponsive and pronounced them dead at the scene.
The chorus, which Siddall joined in 2018, described them as a gifted performer and a devoted community member. Kevin Corbett, managing director of the chorus, praised Siddall's warmth and kindness, stating they made a lasting impact on the community. Police are still searching for the driver, who has an Illinois license plate reading FH49505. The investigation remains ongoing, with all northbound lanes of DuSable Lake Shore Drive closed for several hours to process the scene. This incident highlights ongoing concerns about pedestrian safety in urban areas.
