Local students honored with music scholarships
Five student musicians from Chelan received scholarships to further their musical education, as announced by the Valley Winds Community Concert Band and the Bob Myers Memorial Scholarship Fund. The Valley Winds Concert Band scholarships, totaling $300 each, were awarded to Adele Esmond, Daniela Ochoa Bernal, and Emily Pulsifer for summer music camps and lessons. Additionally, the Bob Myers Memorial Music Scholarship awarded $400 to sixth-grader Edmund Moore and $600 to high school senior Eli Becerril for music instruction. The scholarships honor the memory of Bob Myers, a lifelong supporter of music education, and aim to recognize excellence in instrumental performance. Funds are generated through donations at seasonal concerts and support from local businesses like Chinook Music.
These awards not only celebrate the recipients' achievements but also provide essential resources for their ongoing musical journeys. Supporting youth in the arts fosters community engagement and cultivates future talent. By investing in these young musicians, the community reinforces its commitment to arts education.
