Law Enforcement agencies to host town halls on grief, loss and supporting children

The Chelan County Sheriff’s Office will host town hall meetings on grief and loss from June 9 to June 11, addressing how to support children during trauma. Collaborative efforts with Douglas County and local police departments aim to foster community understanding of grief. Julie Boyer, Executive Director of Pacific Northwest Support Services, will provide insights based on her extensive experience in trauma care. The sessions will cover topics such as age-appropriate language for discussing death and resources available for families. The events will be held in Leavenworth, Chelan, and East Wenatchee, each lasting one hour.

Open discussions will allow participants to share their experiences and seek guidance. These meetings are free and welcome all community members impacted by loss. The Sheriff’s Office highlights the necessity of supporting children as they navigate their emotions during difficult times.
