From Fields of Grain to the Field of Medicine The Journey to Lake Chelan Health
Dr. Tyler Goeser, who grew up on a North Dakota farm, shifted his career aspirations from agriculture to medicine, inspired by his mother’s nursing career and a supportive high school teacher. He worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant, where he developed a passion for patient autonomy and the need for choice in healthcare. This realization led him to apply to medical school at the University of Kansas, where he was accepted into a rural medicine program designed to address physician shortages. After completing his residency at Sea Mar Marysville Family Medicine, Goeser embraced the natural beauty of Washington State while seeking a practice that aligned with his values.
He joined Lake Chelan Health, impressed by its commitment to community care and patient relationships. The Salina Campus, where he trained, serves as a model for rural medical education, admitting only eight students each year. Goeser’s journey reflects the importance of consistent healthcare providers in rural areas, where new doctors often rotate. His commitment to improving patient autonomy and healthcare access highlights the ongoing need for dedicated professionals in underserved communities.
