Lake Chelan Community Center receives AED donation from DP Foundation
The Lake Chelan Community Center received a crucial AED and SafeStation donation from the DP Foundation on April 25, aimed at enhancing community safety. Five to seven staff members will be trained on the AED's use, ensuring preparedness for emergencies. Adam Lang, the founder of the DP Foundation, also donated an AED to the Lake Chelan School District for Mountain Goat Field, making it the first AED on this side of the mountains. The DP Foundation has donated 40 AEDs in total, significantly contributing to local safety. Lang started the foundation in memory of his friend Daniel Phelps, who died from sudden cardiac arrest in 2015.
The initiative seeks to increase accessibility to AEDs and support local youth soccer. The national survival rate for sudden cardiac arrest is around 10%, but prompt CPR and AED use can significantly improve outcomes. The foundation is also part of Project 100, which aims to ensure all sports fields in Washington State are equipped with AEDs.
