Manson School Board to hold public hearing on 4-day week proposal

Chelan, WALocal News

The Manson School Board will hold a public hearing on April 28 at 4:30 p. m. to discuss a proposal for shifting to a four-day school week, aiming to enhance efficiency under the Economy and Efficiency Waiver. This waiver allows districts to reduce instructional days while maintaining educational standards. Public participation is highly encouraged, with comments accepted in person or in writing—remote comments via Zoom will not be permitted.

The district will provide a Spanish interpreter to accommodate non-English speakers better, allotting them a longer comment period. Only one comment per person is allowed, and the school board will not respond to comments during the hearing. Signage and displays are prohibited inside the library. The hearing will conclude after the final public comment, and a full board meeting agenda will be accessible online. This proposal may significantly impact the local education system and community engagement.
