Spring Writers Conference returns to Wenatchee Valley College
The Write on the River Spring Writers Conference is set to return to Wenatchee Valley College on May 16-18 after a seven-year absence, promising an enriching experience for writers of all skill levels. With a range of workshops led by professional authors and industry experts, the event aims to inspire creativity and foster a sense of community among participants. Ana Maria Spagna, an English professor at the college, highlighted the conference as a fantastic opportunity for budding writers to learn new genres and strategies. The conference will kick off with a 20th Anniversary and First Page Critique Party, where attendees can receive valuable feedback on their manuscript openings from author Jason Brick and literary agent Rachel Letofsky. In addition, Washington State's poet laureate, Derek Sheffield, will present a workshop titled "Nature Writing Now," which will delve into both poetry and prose.
The event will culminate on Sunday with a master class on "Fearless Writing," led by William Kenower, designed to be both substantive and inspirational. Discounted rates for Wenatchee Valley College students make the conference accessible, reinforcing the organization's commitment to supporting local writers. Overall, the revival of this conference marks a significant moment for the local writing community and highlights the importance of nurturing creative expression.
