WVC to host event honoring Vietnam war veterans on 50th anniversary
Wenatchee Valley College is preparing to honor Vietnam War veterans with a special ceremony on March 29, marking the significant 50th anniversary of the war's conclusion. The event is scheduled for 2 p. m. in the Student Recreation Center on the college's Wenatchee campus, aiming to recognize the sacrifices of veterans and nurses during the conflict. Local dignitaries, including Wenatchee Mayor Mike Poirier and East Wenatchee Mayor Jerrilea Crawford, will present 50th anniversary pins to veterans in attendance, highlighting their contributions.
The ceremony will include solemn activities such as wreath-laying and flag-folding, along with a prayer for the fallen. Attendees will also receive information on crucial resources addressing PTSD, Agent Orange exposure, and suicide prevention. Musical performances by the Wenatchee Valley Symphony and the Wenatchee Apollo Club will add to the event's emotional depth. The Color and Honor Guards from the Wenatchee Valley VFW and the American Legion will present colors, enhancing the ceremony's patriotic spirit. This event showcases a collaborative effort between Wenatchee Valley College, American Legion Post 10, and VFW Post 3617, emphasizing community support for veterans.
