SEPA Determination of Non-Significance City Sewer System Improvements

Chelan, WALocal News

The City of Chelan has confirmed a Determination of Non-Significance for a sewer system improvement project in downtown Chelan. The initiative will replace about 2,370 linear feet of gravity sewer mains and refurbish Lift Station CC1, aiming to enhance the local infrastructure. Funding will come from the Washington State Clean Water State Revolving Fund, with additional park improvements planned for Riverwalk Park. The city assessed that the project poses no significant adverse environmental impact, thus an Environmental Impact Statement is not required. Public access to the project’s environmental checklist and plans is available at City Hall or online.

An archaeological monitoring plan will be implemented for any ground-disturbing work, alongside a soil handling plan for contaminated soil removal. The comment period for public input will close on December 11, 2025. Local officials emphasize the importance of community engagement in this infrastructure upgrade process.
