Chelan County MRWF Now Takes Dangerous Wastes from Small Businesses, Organizations

Chelan, WALocal News

Chelan County has introduced a year-round hazardous waste disposal service for small quantity generators (SQGs) at the Moderate Risk Waste Facility. This service allows businesses and organizations producing less than 220 pounds of dangerous waste monthly to schedule appointments for safe recycling and disposal. Kris Perry, the Solid Waste program manager, highlighted this expansion as a way to better support local businesses. Previously, the facility operated only annual disposal events since its opening in December 2019. Dangerous waste encompasses items such as used oil, gasoline, and batteries.

To qualify as an SQG, businesses must meet specific waste generation criteria. The facility is open for residential drop-off without appointments from Tuesday to Friday and the first Saturday of each month. Interested parties can contact the facility directly for more information and pricing.
