Manson Junior Firefighters inspire community through service and education
For over 20 years, the Manson Fire District 5 Junior Firefighters program has provided valuable training and mentorship to local youth. Recently, junior firefighters taught fire safety to over 250 Manson Elementary students during Fire Safety Week, emphasizing the importance of community engagement. School nurse Michelle Rogge highlighted the necessity of understanding fire safety, including how to respond during emergencies. The program has fostered generational involvement, with many participants having family ties to past volunteers. Training sessions cover essential skills mandated by Washington State, including annual live fire training.
Manson Fire Chief Arnold Baker noted the program's success stems from strong community partnerships. The collaboration enhances student knowledge and preparedness for fire emergencies. Ultimately, the program equips youth with skills applicable both inside and outside the firehouse.
