Travel Advisory Knapps Tunnel Closed from Noon 2 p.m. on Monday, October 20

Chelan, WALocal News

A final inspection will temporarily close the US 97A Knapps Tunnel for two hours on Monday, Oct. 20, from 12 p. m. to 2 p. m.

The inspection follows the completion of a lighting upgrade aimed at enhancing visibility and safety within the tunnel. During this time, motorists between Entiat and Chelan must use State Route 971 as a detour, with longer travel times expected. This inspection is crucial to confirm that the upgraded lighting system complies with safety regulations. Travelers can check real-time travel maps for updated conditions and delays. The closure will impact both local residents and tourists, emphasizing the importance of planning ahead.

The improvements align with ongoing efforts to enhance infrastructure in the region. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to ensure safer travel conditions throughout Washington state.
