Lower Sugarloaf Fire Update Monday, September 22, 2025

Chelan, WALocal News

A Level 3 Evacuation Notice has been issued for parts of Entiat Valley as the Labor Mountain and Lower Sugarloaf Fires pose significant risks to local communities. The Chelan County Emergency Management is actively monitoring the situation and has called for a community meeting on September 23 at 6 PM at the Entiat School District, which will also be streamed live on Facebook. Fire crews are currently suppressing spot fires and preparing control lines, utilizing calmer weather conditions to enhance their efforts. An American Red Cross Shelter is available at the Entiat Warehouse Community Church for those evacuated. As of now, firefighters are focusing on protecting structures in the area while conducting mop-up operations and monitoring fire lines.

Yesterday, windy conditions challenged control efforts, but firefighters adapted quickly to engage emerging spot fires. The Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest has also implemented closures for safety. Residents are encouraged to check air quality updates due to expected smoke impacts as temperatures rise.
